- Q. WHY SHOULD I BOOK WITH SMART?
- A. Because we think like a customer first and believe that "small details make a big difference".
- Q. IS SMART THE CHEAPEST RENTAL COMPANY?
- A. The market is big, and there is a possibility to find a cheaper car elsewhere. We try to keep our prices on a very reasonable level, but quality and service have their price. Compare our prices and fleet and you will find out that our smallest car is a 4 door with Air-condition as standard, which is by other companies a category B car. That is why we are the cheapest with high standards – compare prices and categories and you will see the difference. We also provide each customer with a road map, with descriptions in 5 languages.
- Q. HOW CAN I BOOK A VEHICLE?
- A. You just have to fill in the reservation form and send it out. As soon as possible, you will receive an email from SMART as a confirmation of the booking.
- Q. DO I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING IN ADVANCE?
- A. With SMART you don’t pay anything before you get the vehicle you have booked. At the time the rental period starts (delivery), you pay the agreed amount directly to our representative. We at SMART RENTALS believe that you get a better feeling if you pay after you have seen the actual vehicle you are going to use, instead of just looking at a picture of it.
- Q. HOW OLD IS YOUR FLEET?
- A. An average of 12 months for cars and 18 months for motorbikes.
- Q. WHAT DRIVING LICENSE DO I NEED TO RENT A CAR / BIKE?
- A. If you come from a EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRY, your local full driving license is enough. (Also valid: Switzerland, Norway, Denmark and Lichtenstein) In case you come from a NON EC country or from Overseas, you need an INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE. For all Scooters / Motorbikes more than 50 cc you need a full motorbike driving license (A). In any case, it must be a valid license held for at least one year, and you have to have the minimum age. To drive a 2-wheel vehicle we advise having very good experience in driving.
- Q. HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO RENT A CAR?
- A. For A, B, C, categories, at least 21 years old. B. For all others, over 25 years old. The maximum age for renting a car is 70 years old.
- Q. HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO RENT A SCOOTER?
- A. For scooters up to 50 c.c. ,at least 20 years old. B. For all other motorbikes, over 23 years old. The maximum age for renting a scooter is 70 years old.
- Q. WHAT IS THE TRAFFIC LAW IN GREECE?
- A. The same as in any EUROPEAN COMMUNITY COUNTRY.
- Q. DO I HAVE A GOOD INSURANCE WITH SMART?
- A. There is no doubt about it. The Car price list also includes a Collision Damage Waiver, and a Theft Insurance, with NO EXCESS AT ALL, in case of an accident. Tires and undercarriage are not covered, but if you wish, you can choose the full insurance package, AS AN EXTRA SERVICE. The cost is 2 € per day, for all categories. The full insurance Package is available only for cars. The motorbike price list also includes a C.D.W. (collision damage waiver) and theft insurance with a small amount of excess, depending on the bike category. So, leave any trouble to us and you just enjoy your holiday.
- Q. WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT OR BREAK DOWN?
- A. We have a 24-hour road service in Zakynthos, and we provide you with emergency Tel. No. at the beginning of the rental. You just have to call us immediately, and within 1hour approx. we will bring you another vehicle, so you don’t loose valuable holiday time.
- Q. CAN I TAKE THE VEHICLE OUTSIDE ZAKYNTHOS?
- A. It is not possible for any car, scooter, motorbike or pushbike.
- Q. HOW CAN I FIND YOU?
- A. Our main office is in AGIOS SOSTIS, a 10 minute walk from Laganas. If you book in advance, we will deliver the vehicle either to the Airport or to your Accommodation.

- A. There are no hidden extra costs to surprise you. The price list already includes a very good insurance package, and there is an extra cost in case you want to cover tires and undercarriage listed below. In case you do not wish to book the extra insurance for tires/undercarriage we need a credit card deposit, which we will return when we pick up the car without damage on these parts. (Please see details at "Prices are including") on front page
- Q. DO I NEED A VEHICLE ON MY VACATION?
- A. You can always use taxis or buses, (if you find one at any time), but you will end up paying more than a rented car. It would be a pity, to be on this beautiful island, without discovering it on your own. Choose the feeling of freedom to ride a bike or move around with a car on the island and enjoy a bit of the Greek way of living.
- Q. I THINK ABOUT IT WHEN I GET THERE.
- A. Consider the fact that you have to walk around in all rental places, loosing valuable time, and finally you will not get so much information as you do from the internet. You may also not find what you are looking for immediately; there might also be a shortage of availability. And of course, it is going to be much more expensive.
- Q. DO I HAVE TO SIGN ANYTHING?
- A. At the time you receive your vehicle, you must sign a rental agreement with SMART, such as that shown on our internet site.
This agreement is written in the two major spoken languages in Europe, English and German.
The front page shows the details of the rented vehicle and the driver/renter as well as the accepted insurance.

- A. All our vehicles use Unleaded 95 petrol. There are more than enough Petrol stations all over the island, and most of them are open every day till 10 o'clock at night. We expect the vehicle back with the same petrol as it was upon delivery. The client pays for his own petrol.
- Q. METHODS OF PAYMENT?
- A. We accept € CASH, MASTERCARD and VISA without any extra charge.
- Q. DO I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR DELIVERY – COLLECTION?
- A. No. Delivery and collection of the car / bike are free of charge 7 days a week from 08.00 am to 09.00 pm. Delivery / collection outside these hours are subject to an additional charge of 15 € per extra hour.
